Stable immune system with the aid of splenic peptides
Splenic peptides are capable of restoring immune functions damaged by tumour disease and chemotherapy. They stabilise the lymphocytic status and improve the patient’s general health.
For more than 50 years splenic peptides have been used in supportive tumour therapy aimed at improving the patients’ poor general state of health caused by tumour disease and tumour therapy. Splenic peptides, which are organotherapeutic agents, are obtained from spleens by means of standardised procedures. The main constituents of a splenic peptide active ingredient are oligopeptides and polypeptides. However, depending on the method of manufacture, splenic peptide preparations may vary widely in their individual composition.
In terms of drug safety, it is desirable that injectable splenic peptide preparations are free of proteins or larger polypeptides. Polyerga® is a preparation containing only highly purified oligopeptides derived from porcine spleens. As well as Polyerga® ampoules, Polyerga® coated tablets are also available which contain both oligopeptides and polypeptides.
In the manufacture of splenic peptide active ingredients, the peptides contained in the spleen are separated and enriched. The discovery of numerous oligopeptides exhibiting a cytokine effect has given splenic peptides new significance for modern research. More |
